TV’s back

A few of the things coming on that I think friends are interested in: “Weeds” returns tonight on Showtime, and this year it’s paired with “Nurse Jackie”, which looks interesting although isn’t getting great reviews There’s no new season of “Top Chef” this summer; we’re getting “Top Chef Masters” (starting on Wednesday June 10th) instead, which is “Top Chef” with established chefs (some of whom have been judges on the regular show) and a different team. … Merely by the way Fox has treated it so far, most people have written off its chances of going to series already, but it should be interesting to watch as a stand-alone piece. … is coming back to the SciFi (sorry, SyFy) channel on Friday, July 10th (yes, no more Tuesday night “Eureka!”). And “Warehouse 13″ is SyFy’s (I really just want to not write their name at all, this seems like baby talk) new show which sounds like a stock weekly formula type show, warehouse full of artifacts, lots and lots of genre guest stars. ‘Lost’ Season Finale Prediction

Not having read any spoilers, I predict that they set off the nuke and that the entire cast is propelled 150,000 years into the past where they become the progenitors of humanity… wait, sorry, wrong show. Continue reading

‘Kings’ Premiere Available for Free

NBC’s new show ‘Kings’ has intrigued me… the biggest selling points of it for me are that it stars Ian McShane (Al Swearengen from ‘Deadwood’)… we spent part of the weekend trying to explain the appeal and charm of Al Swearengen to someone, and likely failed. … It’s still sitting on our DVR as we haven’t had a chance to watch it yet either, but I’m looking forward to some high quality Ian McShane time, even if it will be weird that he’s not swearing up a storm. … Amazon’s video service allows you to view under Windows or MacOS X, download to Windows (and supported Windows Media Player devices), and stream video on demand to Tivo Series 2, 3 and HD boxes as well as Roku boxes and other devices. … We have one and I’ll write more about it someday soon. iTunes also has “Goliath” , the pilot episode of ‘Kings’, available as a free download for those of you who want to watch it on your Apple eco-system hardware. In the Category of “Just No”

Do you ever turn on the television and think “Oh my, why hasn’t Fox TV adapted Ab Fab into a US sitcom? … Unfortunately, it appears that Fox never got the memo, and are in the process of doing just that. Complicating matters is the fact that Jennifer Saunders is helping write the new version. Which means that I’ll probably try watching it at least once, damn it.   [From Ab Fab New Pilot For Fox TV ]

Battlestar Galactica: Both Back and Ending

The new episode will apparently run 3.5 minutes long, so set make sure your DVRs are catching that because I suspect you’ll be very unhappy about missing the last few minutes of the new episode. … If you’re looking forward to BSG returning and you haven’t watched the most recent ten “webisodes”, you really should take a look at them. … They’re also available from the iTunes Store for free, so you can carry them around on your iPod if you want to as well as watch them on your computer or Apple TV. I’m not certain that the webisodes are vital for seeing tonight’s new episode – my understanding is that they take place concurrently with it – but they do look like they set up something important.
